“Solhjul”

Artist: Bo Karberg
Directors: Foreningen Skulpturby.dk

The artwork "SOLHJUL" (Sun -Wheel ) is inspired by 5000 years old disc wheels from the late Neolithic period, which was found in Pilkmosen by Give (Denmark) in 1948. They are now classified as the oldest known wheel in Europe, and is today at the National Museum.

The discovery of very small things can lead one to something very big. The artist was inspired by the fact that the old wheels were made of oak - and especially its fruit - acorn. Boll here is covered with Fibonacci spirals (the golden section), which is found everywhere in nature. .

This has now led to this monumental work of art in Give that unite technology and science with the beauty of nature.
